Conversations

Jasir's Farm

Show: Stranger in a Strange Land

Crane: "Oh - so... You're one of the Faceless? Will you let me speak to the Mother?"
Faceless: "You think she would speak with a stranger? No. But you are on the right path if you wish to join our ranks. Be patient. What's your name?"
Crane: "Kyle Crane."
Faceless: "You have a long road ahead of you, Kyle Crane. Do not stray from it. And may this help you in your struggle. That's all we have to say to you for now. "
Jasir: "You can leave now, newcomer."

Countryside

Show: Stranger in a Strange Land

Acolyte: "You do not know us... And yet you help us. For the glory of the Mother? Or for personal gain?"
Crane: "I'm... Look, I just want to help."
Acolyte: "Then we are allies now. But it's not enough."
Crane: "Hey, I don't understand! Wait..."

Show: The Gathering

Acolyte: "Perhaps we owe you an apology, Kyle. You help us, and yet we still do not entirely trust your intentions. We understand it might be hard to expect someone to praise the Mother without seeing the sign..."
Crane: "I've got nothing to hide. My intentions are pure. I'm here to help."
Acolyte: "Make your way to the lake known as the Eye of the Sun. Bow down before the Mother and you shall receive her blessing. We invite you to meet with us, Kyle."

At the gathering:

Acolyte: "Mother, blessed by the Sun, we praise you."
Kaan: "Mother, blessed by the Sun, we praise you."
Acolyte: "Mother, embraced by the Wind, we trust you."
Kaan: "Mother, embraced by the Wind, we trust you."
Acolyte: "Mother, radiant with grace, come to us!"
Kaan: "Mother, radiant with grace, come to us!"
Acolyte: "Children of the Sun! Accept the Mother's gift and stay true to Her path!"
Kaan: "Mother is good. Mother is life. Mother will help us."

After the gathering:

Acolyte: "I'm glad we had the chance to meet, Kyle. I understand you're still... Confused. Don't worry. That's just how the first time feels. The trance lasts for a couple of hours."
Crane: "Trance? So... The Biter that didn't attack me... I dreamed that?"
Acolyte: "The Biter was real. But don't try it again – you're not protected by Mother's aura anymore. However... Your soul and blood have been cleaned. Your resistance to the virus will last as long as you stay on the right path. Put your faith in the Mother. Continue what you started and your questions shall be answered. We will contact you."

Show: Crash Boom Bang

Acolyte: "Crane, we believe a plane may have crash-landed somewhere near here."
Crane: "Yeah, I watched it go down."
Acolyte: "It's worth checking for survivors. It could be someone from OUTSIDE the quarantine."

After having spoken to Fatin and Tolga:

Acolyte: "Crane? Did you find the aircraft? Did it really crash?"
Crane: "Yes. And yes. But the crew were no outsiders. Just a few unlucky people trying to get out of Harran."
Acolyte: "Did anyone survive? Are they dangerous?"
Crane: "Two survivors, but no. They're just a pair of... suicidal mad scientists. More dangerous to themselves than anyone else."
Acolyte: "Scientists, you say? The Mother would like you to keep an eye on them... Just in case."

Show: Anomalies

Crane: "Hey, you there? "Strange phenomenon" doesn't even come close."
Faceless: "...What do you mean, brother?"
Crane: "I mean there was this huge-ass Demolisher just standing there in the field! Didn't even notice me. And this weird mist, too, like what you guys had at the ceremony."
Faceless: "Oh... Well, that's... an interesting development. Brother. I can't really... tell you right now. But... Meet me at Jasir's farm. Soon. I believe you are ready."

At the farm:

Faceless: "It is good to see you again, brother. This time, though, I fear I carry some bad news for you."
Crane: "Yeah, well, I'm used to that by now. What's going on here?"
Faceless: "Kyle. You already knew, didn't you? People not getting infected — that it's just smoke and mirrors? It is the smoke. Literally. Our Mother found a way to fight the sickness using a certain... let's call it an "elixir." You have seen it working with your own eyes."
Crane: "So you do have a cure?"
Faceless: "Would you call a bandage on an open wound a cure? No. What we have right now is just a temporary solution. We are working on a certain... curative project. One with more permanence. But we need time... and we need peace to last for just a bit longer."
Crane: "Let me guess. You're running out of this elixir?"
Faceless: "Unfortunately — yes. That's why I asked you to come here. I want to offer you a deal. Find us more of it. And a fair portion will be yours. The Mother will teach you how to use it. You'll be able to return to Harran with your prize... or perhaps you'll choose to stay with us."
Crane: "Seems like you've got an idea of where to look for this stuff..."
Faceless: "A lot of our brothers were out searching for it... And recently we lost contact with three of them. They were supposed to check a certain cave. Your seeing the mist cannot be a coincidence. It must have been spillage. Seems that someone found the elixir and ran away with it."
Crane: "All right — so check out the cave. Got it."
Faceless: "Farewell, Brother. I hope the news you bring back is good."

After checking the truck in the cave:

Crane: "Hey — you there? I'm at the cave you mentioned... And I found two of your brothers. Dead. I also heard a distress call – it mentioned some "goods" that aren't here."
Faceless: "So they were stolen... all right. Please keep investigating. We'll try to gather some information about the third brother."
Crane: "Be on the lookout for orange uniforms. Or a symbol — three horizontal stripes."
Faceless: "Excuse me?"
Crane: "The bandits in here... These are Rais's thugs. They're worse than the undead. What happened in Harran, that's mostly their fault."
Faceless: "Oh... I see. Thank you, Kyle. I'm sure that information will prove useful."

Show: Vanitas

Acolyte: "Crane, we've lost contact with someone working on a specific task for the Mother. We would like to ask you to check on him, and..."
Crane: "Help out if necessary, right?"
Acolyte: "Yes, please. The Mother would very much like this man to finish what he started."
Crane: "Okay. Who is it?"
Acolyte: "His name is Atilla. He's an ethnographer, working in the Mother's mansion. It's that big residence at the top of the cliff."

Show: The Fate of the Fool

Acolyte: "Crane. How is Atilla? His silence goes on for too long."
Crane: "He didn't reach out to you guys? He said he was going to."
Acolyte: "Then he is all right?"
Crane: "I helped him with his research. He told me that he has to write everything down now. Said he needs time..."
Acolyte: "Go and find out, please, why he hasn't reached out to us yet. We must be certain that he will finish the task."
Crane: "All right."

After finding Atilla:

Crane: "Hey, it's Kyle Crane. I'm at Atilla's house."
Acolyte: "What's Atilla's condition, Crane? Speak!"
Crane: "He slit his own throat! He put the mask on and killed himself!"
Acolyte: "Mask? What mask?"
Crane: "An old, red mask I found at the Temple of the Sun."
Acolyte: "Ugh... that old fool used you, Crane!"
Crane: "What? How?"
Acolyte: "To find this mask. We know all about it... that wasn't his task, Crane. Atilla was deadly sick. There was a cancer eating his brain. He must have become convinced that if he put this mask on and slit his throat, the God of the Sun would manifest and possess his body."
Crane: "But... why?! Why would he get that in his head?"
Acolyte: "And He shall pass through the Gates of Death so that He may bring new life." Atilla interpreted that to mean suicide. An error that cost him his life. Take the mask... And try to find the book Atilla was writing for us. Take them to Jasir and we'll take care of the rest."

Show: At the End of the Tunnel

Acolyte: "Kyle. We've received information of a group matching your description. They've occupied the granary. If these bandits took anything from the cave, if they keep our lost brother Orcan somewhere, it's probably right there."
Crane: "All right, I'll check it."
Acolyte: "We know it's a huge risk, but this might be our last chance to find what we're all looking for."

After having spoken to Orcan:

Crane: "It's Crane. The bandits really were in the granary. So was Orcan. They captured and tortured him."
Acolyte: "May the God of the Sun accept his soul. Did he tell them anything?"
Crane: "I don't know. He said he didn't. He did try to tell me something about the "cure" ...I guess they didn't know how to open it?"
Acolyte: "So some of it remains, even though they spilled a lot at that field. Do you have any idea where they could've gone?"
Crane: "Orcan said something about the lighthouse. I'll take a look."
Acolyte: "Thank you, brother. If you find those vials, give us a sign immediately. You'll take it straight to the Mother."

Show: The Following

Crane: "Oh no! This is Crane — do you copy? The vials are gone, I saved only the last few of them... And the Rais's men are coming to you. Do you hear me?"
Acolyte: "Crane, co... fas... [static]"
Crane: "Hello? Shit... Better hurry."
