The Shadow of the King

"Ishaq promised to share his gift with me. He wants to forsee my future. It may be related to Rais in some way." Quest introduction

The Shadow of the King is a side quest available in Dying Light.

Objectives

Talk to Ishaq

Ishaq told me his prophecy, it goes something like that: "Rising sun... leading me to the fountain of blood... place where people are speaking tongues... follow the red trail... to be enlightened... the deceitful number 9... shadow of a self-proclaimed king... with whom I will fight? And I'll find out who he is and what his weaknesses are and I will take his crown or die."

Ishaq's prophecy guided me to Rais's old room in the hotel. I don't know if Ishaq has a real supernatural power or not, but he was right.

Walkthrough

After having found the 6 Night Herbs for Ishaq during the previous quest and having placed them in his brazier, speak to him. He will speak in riddles which need to be solved to find out what he is talking about. Head to the southeastern part of Old Town, located just northeast of the Museum.

"... a fountain of crying blood. I guess that's what that is. ... people speaking tongues? The hotel would have been full of foreigners. Maybe that's it." Kyle Crane

A small water fountain covered in blood in front of the "noMesh" hotel is the hint to the first clues that Ishaq provided, as Crane realizes that the hotel would have been full of foreigners. Enter the hotel. The entrance door may be hard to recognize at first as it is a shatterd glass door, commonly used for doors which cannot be used, as opposed to a wooden door. The entrance door has a red carpet and blood on the door handles.

"And there's the red trail. Well, he's either clairvoyant, or I'm being setup. The deceitful nine must be a room number then..." Kyle Crane

Once inside, the "red trail" turns out to be a reference to a bloody trail leading to the stairs, on the lower levels of which a couple of infected are located. Look around for a "Staff Rooms" keycard, as it is required to proceed with the quest.

After obtaining it, use the keycard to access the staff rooms, located at the lobby. Behind the counter many keycards for rooms in the hotel can be found all of which can be taken. There is also a German 9mm Pistol next to the employee laying there, but be mindful as he is an infected and will wake up when Crane gets too close.

After obtaining the keycards, go back to the first door and open the elevator doors, again, be mindful as there are two infected laying on the floor here. Climb into the elevator shaft and proceed to the next floor. Once there, walk to the end of the hallway and use the keycard to room 9. Be careful as a Viral will be located in the room.

"This was Rais's room. He must have set up shop here when the epidemic first began." Kyle Crane

Inside the room a weapon crate marked "Rais" can be found, locked with a medium lock. Open it to find Rais's Gun as well as some files marked as "confidential", a photo of Rais in his military fatigues, photos of infected, and a photo of Rais's brother can also be found. In the back of the room a wheelchair is found, probably having belong to Rais's brother before he died. On the wall at a nearby desk a map can also be seen, having been used for some form of planning.

After opening the chest and taking the gun, the quest is finished.

Notes

• There is no room ending in the number 9. The player must instead enter room 206, which has the 6 flipped upside down into a 9.
