DIY Grenades is a throwing weapon that appears Dying Light. The blueprint is achieved upon unlocking the DIY Grenades skill
Overview
DIY Grenades, out of the four grenades boasts the highest damage, to compensate for the lack of special effects. Once thrown, a timer will begin and once it ends, the grenade will explode.However, this weapon is almost completely inferior to Exploding Trap Bombs, as humans will actually run away from these when it's thrown. This can still force humans out of cover if the player has a good aim and wishes to kill their enemies quicker.
It can also be used against infected though unlike Trap Bombs, they do not attract them. This can be off-sided by throwing Firecrackers to attract them towards the Grenade. Due to its damage, this weapon is perfectly capable of killing standard Biters and Virals instantly. It can also be useful against Goons and Demolishers, due to the slow speed of the former and the latter's tendency of standing still and tossing boulders. Due to the speed and health of Volatiles, it is highly suggested not to use this weapon in chases, even with Backlash.
Upon being thrown, an icon may appear on screen to alert the player if they are too close to the blast radius of the grenade. It's important to take mind of this alert as this weapon is able to instantly kill players when they are standing too close to it. However at the end of the day, it's still an explosive, it can harm the player and it makes lots of noise so use it at your own risk.
Acquisition
- A crate with twelve DIY grenades is located in a field during the quest "Anomalies".
- Two DIY grenades can also be found in the cave in the northwest of the Countryside, next to the body of the soldier who collapsed the road.
- Six more DIY grenades can be found near the end of the cave, around the military research truck.

Trivia
- Upon discovering the origin of the mist, the player will also discover a military crate filled with these weapons. This implies that Harran's military uses improvised explosives as their standard issue grenade.
- This is one of the few throwing weapons used by humans.
