The American 9mm Pistol is a firearm in Dying Light. It can be purchased from shops, found in loot caches and rarely, in the trunks of police sedans and vans.

Overview

Like most firearms, the American 9mm Pistol was initially a rare find, however its common availability midway into the game allows it to be collected and sold in large quantities to shops.

Comparing to the German 9mm Pistol, it has a lower firepower, but higher rate of fire, and with a 15-round capacity. Unlike the counter-part, the American 9mm Pistol makes a quieter sound than the German 9mm Pistol, making it useful for planned escapes and during combat, or even as a backup weapon.

Trivia

  • The American 9mm Pistol appears to mainly resemble a Beretta 84F "Cheetah" with design elements of a Bersa Thunder 9. The name "American 9mm Pistol" itself is misleading because of this; Beretta is an Italian firearms manufacturer while Bersa is Argentinian, making the gun American in name only.
  • During development and as shown in the Dying Light Official Game Guide, the American 9mm Pistol had a different appearance and resembled a Desert Eagle with a head rail on the barrel. This can be seen during the E3 2014 Showfloor gameplay, and also in the Gamescon 2014 trailer for a second when the player vaults over a biter while holding the weapon.
  • Along with the Golden German Pistol, the Golden American Pistol has a bug where the world-model appears to be the default variant instead of the golden variant seen in first person. Due to this, there isn't a world model for the Golden American Pistol.
