Burning Throwing Stars are a throwing weapon in Dying Light. The blueprint is achieved upon unlocking the Elemental Throwing Stars skill
Overview
Burning throwing stars like all other throwing stars possess a cheap cost, large quantity upon craft, and fast travel speed. They are typically best used on emergencies or single targets, this weapon leaning more towards the latter. These particular throwing stars will always burn any enemy it hits, meaning that the player can pull this out when dealing with Goons or Demolishers as a steady source of continuous damage without risking any surrounding Biters being turned into elemental infected. When using this against Virals, it is best to combine it with Backlash as Virals tend to dodge less while chasing.
Another interesting thing to note is that combining this weapon with Flammable Liquid can result in entire hordes being burned with just a few of these throwing star. To make things better, Virals are actually affected by fire and will sometimes panic when they're burned. However keep in mind that Biters do not panic and can sometimes turn into elemental infected, making them harder to interact with in close range
However, almost all uses this weapon has can be replicated with the Molotov with the only benefit being the damage dealt immediately upon hit and the number of throwing stars crafted at once. Otherwise, this weapon still possesses the weaknesses of any throwing star, being confined to single targets while some enemies are able to dodge it. Bombers will still explode upon being hit, likely due to the fact that these throwing stars still deal damage upon contact.
