Exploding Arrows are special types of ammunition for the Bow. They explode upon hitting the target, creating noise and attracting Virals or Volatiles. They can sometimes be bought from stores.
Overview
Compared to the DIY Grenades, this weapon has a few advantages and disadvantages. For starters, they do not explode upon missing the target which can sometimes be a good thing if the player accidentally fires it at an unadvantageous spot. They are also crafted in larger quantities, wasting less chemicals and only requiring extra precision.
However, its best advantage is that upon hitting, it explodes immediately, giving no chance for human enemies to run away. While this means you can't force humans out of cover and its trajectory isn't arced, it also means that on higher ground, the player can kill multiple humans hiding in the same cover. Unfortunately, any trick you can perform with Exploding Arrows can be replicated with Exploding Throwing Stars, the latter not even needing a Bow to be fired. Still, if the player wishes to use a different secondary, they may still use Exploding Arrows.
