The Freezing Grenade is a throwing weapon that appears Dying Light. The blueprint is achieved upon unlocking the DIY Grenades skill
Overview
Freezing Grenades, possess a decently useful post-explosion effect provided the player can react to it. Once thrown, a timer will begin and once it ends, the grenade will explode. There are a few uses for this weapon when compared to Freezing Throwing Stars, most of which are applicable against hordes and tough enemies. Against hordes, throw a Firecrackers before throwing this weapon in order to maximize its use. This would typically kill most of the Biters while leaving tougher and more dangerous enemies such as Bruisers or Gas Tanks alive
It is particularly useful against Goons and Demolishers, due to the slow speed of the former and the latter's tendency of standing still and tossing boulders. The post explosion effect combined with its ability to kill hordes around said enemies makes it particularly useful against them. However, the freeze duration is considerably less than that of the Freezing Throwing Stars at the cost of being able to affect multiple enemies at once.
Upon being thrown, an icon may appear on screen to alert the player if they are too close to the blast radius of the grenade. It's important to take mind of this alert as this weapon is can harm players when they are standing too close to it. However at the end of the day, it's still an explosive, it can harm the player and it makes lots of noise so use it at your own risk
