The Heavy Rebar is a two handed melee weapon featured in Dying Light. The weapon is dropped by fallen Goons, who exclusively use this weapon as a powerful club.

Overview

Heavy Rebar is an odd weapon. Only used by Goons and their variants as a melee weapon, there's precious little reason to use this outside of the early stages of a new campaign/character. For a starting player, Rebar is pretty powerful but takes a lot of stamina for one swing. The Rebar normally drops with around 200 damage and 1 handling regardless of which type of Goon is defeated and how far the player has progressed. As such, a level 1 character and a level 250 legend character can kill a Goon and still get a 200 damage rebar. It can't be repaired after breaking and will fully deplete a player's starting stamina per swing, making it limited in its use to just large hordes or other Goons. Thus, their usefulness quickly fades at higher levels. The Heavy Rebar also can't be upgraded or repaired, so after a short amount of use it will quickly break. However, throwing the Heavy Rebar regardless whether it's fully repaired or needing to be repaired will still one shot most common zombies.

Notes

  • Heavy Rebar can be scrapped for 2 Metal parts, so at higher levels they can be a good source of metal parts if the player is running low.
