"Who doesn't like turning enemies into dripping, bloody chunks?"
In-game description

Land Mines are a type of Throwing Weapon unlocked in Dying Light : The Following. Its Blueprint is achieved upon unlocking the Mine Dispenser skill.

Overview

Land Mines are interesting explosive when compared to the other explosives in Dying Light. It does not have an instantaneously activated timer nor does it disappear upon missing the target. It simply explodes upon being stepped on. This makes it an incredibly useful tool in close quarters and choke points such as in Quarantine Zones or tight streets.

Another use for it is as a safety net. A player can place a land mine in an entrance in order to both safeguard a location in case an infected entered and as a warning in the event of said infected entering. The player can later pick up said land mine if it was not used up or simply jump over it as its red glow makes it noticeable. It is also useful in thinning down hordes as their predictable path-finding can lead to them nonchalantly stepping on said mines and blowing up their entire horde.

One last use is its intended use, being combined with the Mine Dispenser. With this tool, the player can blow up pursuing Virals, Demolishers, and Volatiles at the cost of attracting more. This won't be an issue if the player can quickly gain speed and this skill will be useful in the case of the player being slowed down by anything. However at the end of the day, it's still an explosive, it can harm the player and it makes lots of noise so use it at your own risk
