In-game description

Shrapnel Trap Bombs is a throwing weapon that appears in Dying Light. The blueprint is learned upon unlocking the Trap Bombs skill

Overview

Shrapnel Trap Bombs possess a passive post-explosion effect which is typically low risk. Once thrown, it will begin attracting nearby Infected. Once it stops, the bomb will explode. There are a few uses for this weapon when compared to other trap bombs, most of which are applicable against hordes and tough enemies. When used against hordes, this bomb would typically kill most of the Biters while leaving tougher and more dangerous enemies such as Bruisers or Gas Tanks alive and bleeding.

It is particularly useful against Goons and Demolishers, due to the slow speed of the former and the latter's tendency of standing still and tossing boulders. The passive damage over time effect combined with its ability to kill hordes around said enemies makes it particularly useful against them. As an added bonus, they can also give the player some breathing room if they wish to heal or consume boosters. Despite being just as usable on humans as any other trap bomb, its low damage and lack of stun effect makes it a poor choice to use against humans.

Upon being thrown, an icon may appear on screen to alert the player if they are too close to the blast radius of the bomb. It's important to take mind of this alert as this weapon can harm players when they are standing too close to it. Always keep in mind that it's still an explosive, it can harm the player and it makes lots of noise so use it at your own risk.
