Starting a Project

  • VERY IMPORTANT!

A Steam or EpicGames account and any Dying Light 2 game version that has been purchased are required in order to use this computer software.

Custom project-maps are being uploaded and downloaded from the hosting website mod.io!


Creating your project

Please install the Developer Tools DLC before continuing...

1. The first thing you need to do is start Dying Light 2 on Steam and choose "Developer Tools" from the startup window that appears.

2. Simply click "Create new Project" in the bottom right corner to begin building a project after the developer tools have been launched.

3. Give your project a name (the directory name is optional).

4. Now, you can create a new map by selecting "Ok" or the ready-made "example map" created by Techland.


Uploading your project

You are ready to share your awesome project with others? Sounds Great!

1. Launch the Developer Tools via Steam and boot up your project.

2. Now login with your account which can also be created on mod.io.

3. After login in select your project and hit „upload mod data“.

4. Fill out your own version, release notes and click on submit!.

Your uploaded project will be published on mod.io as soon it got aproved.


Downloading and installing projects

Being interested and playing custom maps made by other creators?

1. Go to mod.io, sign into your account, select the game "Dying Light 2," then click "subscribe" to play any custom map of your choosing.

2. Start the developer tools, then sign in with your account.

All of your recently created and subscribed projects are now visible in the developer tools.

3. Select your subscribed project and click on „install“.

4. After the installation is completed select the project and open it by clicking on „open project“ in the bottom right corner.

5. The next step is to click "open map" and choose the maps NAME.file.

6. Your map will shortly be loaded in the tools. To playtest your downloaded project, click the "play test" button next to the eye icon on the top bar.
