"Don't play with matches and alcohol they said. But why not I say! Throw a whisky bottle at an Infected and attack with a fire weapon. Pyromaniacs love it. So should you!"
In-game description

Flammable Liquid is a throwing weapon in Dying Light. They render enemies affected by it vulnerable to fire. The Blueprint can be bought on most vendors

Overview

While it may seem like a poor weapon, it actually works very well in combination with other fire starter's like Firecrackers, Trap Bombs, Molotov Cocktails, and other weapons capable of starting fires. Because the fire stacks with other sources, it can be used to very quickly burn down stronger enemies like Goons and Demolishers. It can also be used to pre-apply a flammable substance to be used as a trap later against more aggressive zombies like Virals. It is highly suggested that the player tests out various weapons on oil spills to see what sets it alight as if it works on said spills, it'll work on Flammable Liquid

Its most useful application however is on humans. Humans will begin screaming while trying to put themselves out upon being set alight, something this weapon guarantees on those affected. Combo this weapon with Burning melee weapons on humans with melee weapons. On the flipside, use Molotovs, Incendiary Arrows, or just bullets in general to light humans with firearms on fire, thus making them easy pickings for any weapons you currently possess

However, this weapon also possesses weaknesses of its own. For example, lighting enemies on fire with this weapon will cause tiny explosions which seems to attract Virals. Another thing to note is that Biters that survive being burned will become elemental infected, making it almost impossible to fight them at close distances while also making their grab a lot more lethal.

Trivia

  • In real life due to how quickly alcohol evaporates, burning it can cause a temporary burst of fire which may explain the small explosions that occur when an affected enemy is set alight
