Freezing Shield is an equipment and utility in Dying Light. It can be crafted upon unlocking the Shield Crafting Skill
Overview
Just like the regular shield, this item's main use to stop onslaughts of attacks if timed correctly. Compared to the other shields however, it can only affect one enemy at a time with an exceptionally powerful ability. When timed right, the shield will freeze the attacking enemy, making it exceptionally useful against humans with melee weapons or Virals. Unlike the 2 other shields, it is best to not use it against hordes as it will only affect one infected and as such, waste its durability.
One of its best utilities of this shield however is that unlike the 2 other shields, it can be used specifically for offensive capabilities. The Tesla Shield shield electrocutes enemies, making it harder to attack them at close range while the Claymore Shield knocks them down, something Virals and humans can recover from quickly.
This shield obviously possesses the same weaknesses the regular shield has such as the slowdown you suffer upon raising it, its ineffectivity against ranged enemies, and its limited durability. If the player wishes for a shield that increases their offensive capabilities, this shield is for them.

Trivia
- Strangely enough, the player can see small red canisters behind the shield while raising it, seemingly filled with the freezing fluid.
