The Foul Blade is a weapon introduced in the Hellraid DLC for Dying Light. It's the first weapon usually acquired by a new player to Hellraid and is the most common weapon found across the dungeon that's not carried by skeletons.

Overview

As a weapon, the Foul Blade is a serviceable early weapon for starting out in Hellraid. It's the first weapon collected by a player and can be found in abundance on the floor, next to inert decorative skeletons, on weapon racks and on trophy plaques on walls. They're the most basic weapon and are only found in white rarity in the game world. However, green rarity Foul Blades can be carried by skeletons fought in the dungeon and so during the early game the white rarity Foul Blades can be swapped out for dropped green rarity variants until better weapons like the Gut Spiller or Limb Cutter start appearing both in the world and as weapons carried by skeletons.

Soon enough, the Foul Blade will become obsolete by higher damage weapons such as the two mentioned above though there are a select few ways one can utilize them. If the player has the Melee Throw skill, they can simply throw these weapons like a slower, more damaging Throwing Knife. Otherwise for desperate players, these weapons can be scrapped for coins so assuming they have a few extra inventory spots and no other item to stash it in, one can collect a few of these for some extra coins.

Foul Blades can be purchased in Harran from the box next to the arcade machine in The Tower for Hellraid coins. They are still low damage, however, but they do count as a sword and so can be used for sword related weapon mods. Despite this, if using a high level character the Foul Blade is a poor investment of Hellraid coins as the damage offered by the weapon is far worse than weapons normally found in Harran, so it's best saving Hellraid coins for a higher damage weapon such as a Battle Mallet or even Crusader's Remorse.

Notes

  • When scrapped in Hellraid, Foul Blades give 3 Hellraid coins.
  • It costs 775 Hellraid coins to purchase at The Tower.
