Kick Stun is a Power skill in Dying Light.

Overview

It is one of the best skills early game when the player lacks any reliable finishing moves such as Stomp or Drop Attack. Due to said restrictions, players will often find themselves repeatedly kicking Infected to death in an attempt to save resources. This skill can help in the event in which they need to kick down multiple downed infected as the stun time can give much needed breathing room. Kicking is also a free action which does not drain stamina and as such any buff to kicking is extremely helpful, especially when players are starved of resources.

However, it is not without faults. For starters, the chances of landing a stun is a 1 in 10 chance and most of the time, it only affects one infected. Due to Stun Kill being unlocked all the way in Level 12, it is impossible to combo this with the finisher in early game when this skill shines the most. In later times, players will find themselves having access to large stashes of weapons, meaning they often times will need to use their kicks less and less as time goes on.

Its most detrimental problem is the existence of Stomp. Most of the times, knocking down infected can be guaranteed with a certain amount of kicks. It means that instead of hoping for a stun, players can simply kick an Infected down before instantly killing them off, making it much more efficient method of combat when using kicks.

In the end, this is a skill which has its use diminished later in the game. As such, either make the most out of it early or never see it come into play.
