Biography

Events of Dying Light

He is a survivor and drug producer based out of the Drug Store in the slums of Harran. He and his gang have been producing fake Antizin using their own formula, which turns out to be toxic in nature, and repackaging it into Antizin bottles. Yusuf is a scout at the Tower who has been helping Bento sell the fake Antizin to survivors, including Bahir, who is nearly killed after a negative reaction to the drug.

When confronted by Crane, Bento denies any wrongdoing, insisting that his formula is better than standard Antizin, giving "superpowers" to users. Unfortunately, Bento was warned by Yusuf about Crane's impending arrival, so he is able to prepare himself and his men. He and his gang turn hostile and are all killed in the ensuing fight, effectively ending the fake Antizin operation.

Conversations

Show: Goodnight Mr. Bahir

Bento: "What can I do for you, my friend?"
Crane: "I hear you're selling Antizin."
Bento: "Who told you that? A little bird?"
Crane: "The same person who told me you've been cooking up garbage and putting it in fake vials."
Bento: "Garbage?! My formula is fifty times better than that crap they drop in boxes. Not only does it keep you healthy, it gives you super strength! Incredible speed! And laser eyes! I could burn you with one look, if I wanted to!"
Crane: "I'm shutting you down, Bento."
Bento: "Yeah, Yusuf said you'd try to make trouble."
Crane: "Yeah, well... Yusuf was right!"
Bento: "And you're fucking dead."

Notes

  • 'Bento' is generally a Portuguese diminutive for the name Benedito. It can sometimes be found as a surname.
  • His character is likely a reference to the character of Walter White from the television series Breaking Bad.
  • He genuinely seems to believe his fake Antizin provides the user with superpowers, and even orders his men to use their powers while fighting Crane. This suggests he may be under the influence of drugs or possibly suffering from mental illness.
