Ryan is a character featured in Dying Light.

Biography

Events of Dying Light

He is a drug producer and dealer based out of the junkyard. He makes so-called 'insomnia pills' for Kadir "Rais" Suleiman and his gang, allowing them to stay awake for long periods of time. He previously used a runner named Asam to deliver lists of needed supplies to Aziz in the Black Serpent Bazaar, but Asam eventually stopped showing up and Ryan began pouring red smoke out of his shack.

Kyle Crane is approached by Blake at the Tower to investigate the smoke. Upon his arrival, Ryan provides Crane with an envelope and instructs him to deliver it to Aziz, thus initiating the Tunnel Vision quest. Aziz sends Crane to retrieve phenyl-nitrate from the wreckage of his courier's car. However, Crane instead takes the phenyl-nitrate to Aman at the Tower, who provides him with Dialovon to give to Ryan as a substitute. This will cause Rais' thugs to fall asleep rather than stay awake.

Crane returns to Ryan at the junkyard but finds him under siege by a rival gang. After wiping out the attackers, Crane gives Ryan the Dialovon, under the guise of it being phenyl-nitrate, and encourages Ryan to give up producing drugs and seek shelter at the Tower. Ryan states his intention of doing so, after producing his final batch.

He can later be found residing within the Tower.

Ryan: "Finally. I weas getting worried you weren't coming."
Crane: "You keep pumping red smoke in the air and you're going to have all kinds of visitors."
Ryan: "Red's all I had left. Anyway, you're here, so it did the job. (Picks up an envelope) Give the envelope to Aziz at the Bazaar. Tell him it's from Ryan."

Upon returning:

Crane: "Ryan, it's me! I've got your stuff! Open up!"
Ryan: "Thanks. They were just about to torch this place."
Crane: "Who were those guys?"
Ryan: "Competitors. There's no more Phenyl-Nitrate left in Harran, so they were hoping I'd gotten my last order. Here's something a little extra for coming through for me. Guess this is going to be my last batch. Pleasure doing business with you."
Crane: "You know, take some advice. After you finish your deal with Rais, why don't you go somewhere else. Don't stay here."
Ryan: "Way ahead of you, pal."
Crane: "No, I don't think you are."
